Class Prophecy
for 1975
It's class reunion time for the class
of '65. Of course, it couldn't be held anywhere but
at Sylvan Lake Resort in the Black Hills. Ten years
have elapsed since the class of '65 has graduated from
dear ole KPHS.
Now that we're all gathered at Sylvan
Lake, and sitting around the fireplace, our original
brainstormer, Bill Jamison, comes up with the idea that
we should play charade--each acting his life for the
past ten years. And naturally, Bill wants to be first.
Of course, Bill came alone because he hasn't found a
girl to meet his standards yet. But this didn't surprise
us because he had given us his viewpoints on marriage
ten years ago in government class.
Nancy Jefferson decided to act out all
the fun she has been having these last ten years sitting
on boss's laps. She had so much practice taking dictation
in Mr. Kahler's office that she's become pretty fast.
We see Charlie Kappelman running by the
window occasionally. He's still running the mile and
he hasn't caught anyone yet.
We then saw some blue hair crawling in
the window and immediately we knew it was Karolyn Van
Metre. She had so much practice crawling through windows
on Sneak Day she wondered if she was still able to do
it.
Dick Schiffern is still vigorously working
on the 2nd edition of "Poor Richard's Almanac."
But he tells us that he is going to sign it as we have
always known him: Richard Albert Einstein Schiffern.
Barbara Cook tells us she is happily married.
She was always interested in social work, so with her
eight children she has plenty of opportunities to fulfill
her ambition.
Robert Munger is now a millionaire since
he answered the $64,000 question on KOMA: What is a
woolymunger?
The next one to perform was Margo Nilson.
She gave her abstract mind up to become an officer in
the Marine Corps. Since Gomer Pyle retired, she thought
it was necessary to keep up the tradition. Her motto:
Once a Gomer, always a Gomer.
Tom Thomas tells us he has been divorced
23 times in the past ten years, and is now available
again, so watch out, girls!!!!!!
Next to give a charade is Linda Nelson.
She came to see us on a motor scooter. This is the first
time she has been to the Black Hills since Sneak Day.
She decided to bring a smaller vehicle to go around
the pigtails on, since buses can cause real problems.
Now we come to the long and short of it:
Margaret Mathiesen and Marvel Moles. They come directly
to us after the closing of their smash hit, "The
2 M's" at the Coconut Grove. They have to return
immediately for a command performance.
Next on the list was Doug Snider. He studied
to be an interior decorator, but ended up an inferior
decorator. He has now opened his own pizza hut known
as Dougie Woogie's--specializing in Lindaburgers.
Now we hear from Marilyn Clay. She opened
a novelty shop in Springview called Clay Center. She
specializes in potter, of course.
Paul Nelson gets up and demonstrates how
he drives his B38. He was so used to flying to Ainsworth
and back in high school in his Chevy, that he decided
to do it legally.
Doris Patterson now performs. Doris was
always the "outdoor type." We look out over
the terrace and see her racing around Sylvan Lake in
her miniature motor boat.
Now let's guess Sandy Lewis's charade.
Sandy always wanted to be a nurse. She was always a
"cut-up" in high school. But instead of cutting
up she is cutting out paper dollws inthe local sanitarium.
Next to put on a fake performance is Lorraine
Eliot Kelly Albee Ross. It seems she has had a little
marital trouble, but she's taken back the name Ross,
becuse it always won her fame in high school, antd it
is still bringing her command performances today.
The next to put on a good act is Gaylord
Anderson. Of course, he came with a boutonniere in his
lapel. He has to have that flower when he goes to the
Black Hills for sentimental reasons, or maybe he has
just attended another prom. We find by watching Gayal's
charade that he is a big cattle rancher in Gregory county.
That part of the country always did appeal to him.
Linda Graesser gets up and gives us her
charade of "Hot Off the Press." She is editor
of the "Maine Tribune" and has just won the
Pulitzer Prize for her plays, "The Follower"
and "The Sandpail." I wonder where she got
the names for those plays.
Last but not least, by any means, is our
D J Dennis Carr. He is working at radio station KRUD
in Springview, Nebraska. Maybe it was Mr. Cook's training
in high school that got him this good-paying job.
As for Margaret and I, we are still undecided
as to which college is best.
Having met our classmates again, we feel
our first class reunion was a big success.
Signed: Shirley Fullerton and Margaret
Williams
